Entomology Self Paced (Grades 2-5, Grades 6-10: 17 Weeks)

Level: This course is being offered in two different sessions. One class will be for students grades 2-5, and the other for grades 6-9.

Method of Instruction: Self Paced 17 Weeks

In this course students will learn:

-entomology fields

-entomology careers

-forensic entomology

-living vs nonliving aspects

-insect grouping

-insect anatomy

-insect naming systems and how to use an insect guide

-insect life cycle

-collection techniques

-types of collections (box, jar, flat methods)

-insect identification methods

Students will also create an insect themed spiral notebook full of insect drawings, 3 part insect anatomy sections, and more. 

Students will need to purchase or create an insect collection box, jar, and glass slides. A supply list will be provided upon registration. 

 The course will feature 17 units, which can be completed over a semester (17 weeks) or over a full year following the self paced module.
