This course is designed to give the student an Introduction to Yoga as a physical practice, something that can have significant carry-over value into later lifestyles and ages. The course will cover foundations of the physical practice of Vinyasa Yoga and touch on breath and meditation but not dive deeply into the other limbs of yoga. The focus will be on proper alignment and building a safe, nourishing practice. The course will discuss variations and modifications so that the course is fit for all levels of student and discuss other styles of yoga. An attempt will be made to promote these activities and the realization of the importance to the student of continued exercise and activity throughout one’s life.

Benefits of Yoga
Foundations of Breath
Sun Salutations -- Breakdown of poses/flow
Safe Alignment and Modifications/Variations for Common Poses
Practice, Practice, Practice with Class Flows
Introduction to other Class Types - Yin, Sculpt, Yoga Nidra, Restorative
Foundations of Meditation and Mindfulness
Familiarity with yoga to make lifelong choices about their own practices
Readings about yoga, research on the practice
